Seeing as there is an army of Jägerkin and, at best, a family of Heterodynes to fix them, Jäger medics are in high demand. However, since they see much less action (read, fun) than other jägers, they´re also in short supply. (Which is why Mina was upgraded from nurse to field medic almost immediately.)

It is not at all uncommon for medics to be bequeathed hats by patients. The other main option being winning them from other jägers in hatfights.

Jäger Medics fix broken bones, remove foreign objects, and do other minor surgery as well as amputations, usually as prep for a prosthetic attached by a Heterodyne, who they assist in surgeries.

Water laced with vodka is given out for minor wounds, (minor by jäger standards). Since jägers lick their wounds, even drinking this instead of washing their mouths or wounds out with it helps ward off infection. This is usually handed out by nurses.

Nurses in jäger field hospitals are humans or constructs, and almost entirely recruited from the jägers families. The reason for this being that they are not afraid of their patients, and also already know how to avoid finding out anything they are not allowed to know.
